Nena Glacial Skincare Review

Please note that this is a fully sponsored post with gifted products, but opinions expressed are entirely my own.

I was intrigued by this local and sustainable as their products contain Glacial Oceanic Clay, or one of its derivatives. This unique clay is retrieved only on the coast of Northern British Columbia, Canada and it contains 60+ rare earth minerals and marine-rich ions. It has been clinically proven to reduce sebum levels, increase collagen production, cool inflammation, and more.

Nena Mineral Serum (Retail Price: $34.99, 30 g / 1 oz)

The newest product of their skincare launch, the mineral serum has various benefits.

“Combining the nourishing effects of Glacial Mineral Water, Hyaluronic Acid, and Vitamin C & E, the fast-absorbing Mineral Serum is specially formulated to give your skin deep, lasting hydration, and to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, revealing more youthful and radiant-looking skin.” It purports to deeply hydrate, reveal a youthful glow, enrich your routine and is rewarded as certified quality.

After using it for slightly over 2 weeks, I can attest that it has improved the health and texture of my skin.

The overall texture is silky, with little tacky residue or hint of oiliness. The product comes out of a small pump container; it spreads easily and is fast-absorbing, making it an ideal base layer underneath subsequent treatments, whenever you need an extra layer of nourishment and hydration. It absorbs into the skin well too, and provides a smoother appearance.

Nena Glacial Oceanic Clay Mask (Retail Price: $22.99, 120g, 4.2 oz) Suitable for all skin types

“One of Nena’s most coveted products, glacial clay is scientifically proven to contain anti-inflammatory and soothing properties, increase collagen production by 70% (anti-aging benefits), reduce oil on face by 95% and tighten pores after just one application. Furthermore , glacial clay is negatively-charged, making it a powerful magnet for the positively-charged impurities trapped in the skin. Effectively removes dead skin cells and environmental pollutants, revealing a soft and toned complexion. The product contains 99% natural Canadian Glacial Oceanic Clay from a pristine source in Northern British Columbia Canada. Glacial Clay has been used for centuries by the First Nation People for its antibacterial properties. Glacial Oceanic Clay contains over 60 minerals and rare earth elements beneficial to the skin. Most notably, it is suitable for all skin types, including dry, oily, combination, sensitive, and aging skin, which makes it a versatile product. Overall, it is branded to have clean Ingredients: Halal certified, Environmental Working Group (EWG) Verified and is Made in Canada in a certified facility.

I left this product on for slightly less than 5 minutes and it dried up really quickly, and the darker spots indicated where there were more impurities.

I needed to shake the package to dispense the product, which was slightly cumbersome, but the product itself was quite smooth to apply. It doubles up as a spot treatment. I have been utilizing it on my whole face so that every part can benefit! After rinsing it off, my skin felt cleansed and detoxified, and I noticed an immediate tightening of the pores especially around my nose and cheeks.

One thing I was not a fan of is that it dried out and reddened my skin despite claims (could be my sensitive skin acting up), but I compensated for that by layering on more moisture afterwards. If you have dry or sensitive skin, this might be a bit harsh for you, so proceed with caution.

The rejuvenating mask purports to reduce signs of aging such as fine lines, wrinkles and minor mperfections for a more renewed appearance. It contains Glacial Marine Extract which is an extract of the Glacial Oceanic Clay from a pristine source unique to the British Columbia coast of Canada. This sheet mask also contains a synergy of two matrikines, that smoothes wrinkles and reduces signs of aging, making the skin look visibly younger.

Overall, I felt that these are nice sheet masks to have as a constant rotation in your skincare repertoire to enhance self-care.

Final Thoughts:

Nena Glacial’s main selling point is that it is Canadian and from BC. I love supporting local businesses, particularly those that prioritize values such as sustainability and being ecologically conscious. The emphasis on the main ingredient Canadian glacial oceanic clay is fantastic and seems to be science-backed, and seems to be an effective product from what I’ve tried.

Pricing is definitely quite affordable, compared to even drugstore brands, and the routine is idiot-proof and streamlined for simplicity.

I would definitely re-purchase their clay mask (as a weekly treatment to rotate in your skincare regimen), as well as the serum, as it includes various ingredients such as Glacial Mineral Water, Hyaluronic Acid, and Vitamin C & E, simplifying the essences and treatments designed to keep one’s skin healthy.

Overall, I hope that its simple, clean and sustainable line and strong basis in environmental consciousness and science cement it as a staple in the skincare regimens of dedicated and environmentally inclined Canadians.
